I have ran lots of 5ks, a couple 10ks and a few relays. I have ran some half-marathons. One of the was a beautiful, challenging trail half. I love to run. 

Short-Term Running Goals:

I am signed up to run my first marathon. I would live to qualify for Boston! 

Long-Term Running Goals:

Run in the Boston marathon. Do a triathlon. Be a runner for life.

Went with Heidi- 7  miles

ACTUAL 1 mile warm up-10:30 pace. 2 mile@ 8:26, 3 mile @ 11:08, for a break. 4th mile @ 8:03, 5th mile @ 7:46, 6th mile @ 8:04. 7th cool down mile.

It was hard, it was the first time I have done a tempo run since Sept.

I was sore from yesterday. Especially my right hamstring. I will doing a lot of rolling and stretching. I need to do yoga before I go to bed. That seems to help a lot with running. I am nervous about my 10 miler on Saturday. But I will put in the time no matter what. I want this. My body doesn't seem to right now, but its going to have to deal with it.

I was trying to take it easy and run really slow but it was a mental game for me between running slow and feeling like I will never be fast.

My GPS died. Just did the 5 mile route. My hamstring is still tight. I am a little worried.  I had skied all day and went when we got home. I don't know my speed at all. My legs were tired from skiing

I ran with Connie and Hiedi. Didn't bring a GPS.  We were slow. Connie was pretty slow but it was a social run.  Maybe run more tomorrow. We shall see. Crazy week  this week. Weather has been crazy too.

Ran with Connie. It was slow, but it felt good. I took a 5 hr. energy drink before because I was worried about the distance. I would like to try my next long run without it.

Hamstring feels better. I think it was a good idea to bike instead of run on Saturday.

Ran with Hiedi. 12 miles up to the temple and back. We went up and down Skye drive.  It was as horrible as I thought so that was exciting for me.  I thought was going to poop out.  I didn't take any caffiene before either.

Did my 6 mile tempo run with Heidi. I was supposed to do 1 mile warm up, 4 miles@ 8:12,  1 mile cooldown.

I was going to just do 3 miles at tempo speed because I was being a wimp, but it turned out ok.  I had to concentrate on my body more and I actually liked that.  The air quality is getting worse and worse. It looks like indoor running for me the rest of this week.

5.7 miles 8:35 avg. Pace

1-9:19, 2-8:11, 3-8:16, 4- 8:25, 5- 8:12,  .7-9:20

So wasnt as good as I would have liked but I won't complain. I was within 10 secs of my goal pace. I ate a ton of donuts yesterday. I am going back to clean eating so that should help a lot.  I am grateful for friends and family around me that help me with this goal.

Then I ran with Heather Green. She is a beginner runner that would like to run a 5k. She did pretty darn well for hardly running at all. It was fun to run/walk with her.

Avg. Pace 12:23. That was for both miles.  Looks like she is pretty consistant. Nice!

Holy slow! I was SOOO Sore from the boot camp class on Tuesday.  I don't remember ever having my butt that sore in my life. It was a really hard run but you wouldn't know it from my pace. Oh man, I can't wait until the boot camp doesn't make me so sore.  Ran with Heidi and Connie.

My knee hurt a little. I think it was from those Hoka shoes. I need to pay attention to when I wear those.

On the treadmill at the gym. My bum is still really sore. I know..pathetic.  It was hard to run today. I ran 4 on the treadmill then did 20 mins on the stair climber and called it 5 miles.  This was supposed to be my recovery week. I am not sure you can call this recovery.  I am pretty sore in lots of places. Not lots of running but lots of other things. Geesh.

Ran with Hiedi and Melissa. We went to past the temple, down 3200 s. Back up trough Daybreak and back home on Skye drive. I was dying the last two miles. Ate Nutter Butters and Honey Stinger chews. They kind of upset my stomach. I am going to try them again. We have also been sick so they might be part of it.

My hips hurt so bad after- sat in the snow. It felt to much better. I loved it.

My first 18 ever!! I was sooooo windy!! I ran with Heidi.

I need to get faster. My tummy wasn't as upset as I thought it would be. It was, but not as bad.  Ate Nutter Butters and Honey Stingers.

Avg. Pace-9:55 but really it was faster. I kept forgetting to stop my GPS.

We ran up to Mountain View. Down 1118 to 3200 into that neighborhood. Up to Daybreak. up the hill. Back on 4800 w. I  will try to remember to push stop and also run better.

Teresa watched the boys.

I ran up 62 to mountain view corridor, down 70th to 48th then on 48th back to Teresa's house.

I stopped 2 times. I just had my phone and i think the GPS is slower that what I am actually running. It was hard the whole time but I stuck with it. I got a side ache running down hill but was able to keep it in check.  I am glad I did it and was grateful for friends that are willing to help.

It said my pace was 9:39 overall but I am sure it was faster. I actually liked that route and I will do it again.

Yah know? It was a really hard!! I did really bad! I knew there would be long runs like this, but it seems to start too soon on the run. I usually crash at the end but instead it was mile 7 on. I didn't get any faster. I was mad and upset. I can't believe how bad it was.  Really. I ran with Jenn and that made it really nice so the misery was shared.  We ran along the corridor the whole time. That  part was nice. I am getting sick so I will pretend that was part of it but I don't really think it was. UGH!!! So frustrating!!! I was slow the WHOLE time!  How am I supposed to be fast? I guess I will focus on my tempo runs and try to get it in every week cause that was really BAD!! I got it done though and I guess that is what matters. 20 miles next week and I am not going to love it but I am going to do it. So that is all.

20 freakin' miles!! My first 20 miler- ever. And actually it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I think it was a combination of things. Having Connie for 14.25 of it helped. Also, all the rain/snow/sleet and wind actually made for an interesting run.  The time went by pretty fast. I ran the last 5.75 miles by myself and it wasn't as bad as I thought.
I took IB before the run and I think that helped a TON!!!  Took a 5 hr energy drink. That is always good for my runs.

Ice bath after for sure.

When is your marathon? I also want to qualify for Boston. Didn't think it would be so hard. 20 miles is a long way and a long time to run for us slower folks. Congrads on getting it done.

My marathon is May 17th. I am pretty sure I won't qualify this time but I am going to keep trying. Having 5 young kids makes things a little more complicated. But I love to run. I hope I can just get faster. When is yours? Maybe someday we won't be one of the slower folks.

No specific plans right now. Thought I would qualify for Boston last year at NYC. Based on half time I should have, but it wasn't even close. Was hoping to try again this spring but I fell and hurt my hip so missed a couple of months of training. Now just trying to get milage back up then will work on pace. Have two ironmans this summer will see how I come out of that and then make a plan for a fall marathon.

Long runs and juggling kids is a challenge I have 4. Running does keep me sane enough to be a good parent.

Ran all by myself today. It wasn't too bad actually. It helps that we have ran that route lots of times. It made me comfortable doing by myself. My hips were on fire though. I don't know how to fix it. The last 4 miles are just torture. The weather was nice. That helped.
